Former PIL Player & NBC 2009 Graduate of the Year Earns
2nd Cy Young Award
Former PIL player, Tim Lincecum, & National Baseball Congress “Graduate of the Year” for 2009 has been awarded his second National League Cy Young Award it was recently announced. He posted a 15 win/7 loss record with a 2.48 ERA for the 2009 professional baseball season.
Tim joined the Seattle Studs in 2004 and earned two wins in both of his NBC World Series appearances with them that year. Lincecum joined the San Francisco Giants organization in 2006 and captured his first Cy Young Award in 2008.
PIL President Steve Konek Sr. commented: “We are proud and extremely happy for Tim, the recognition of his individual baseball accomplishments. Playing a part in the development of players, both on and off the field, is what we are about. It is a privilege. The Pacific International League is an opportunity for young people to try to realize their baseball dreams and also to learn a responsibility to self, team, and community. You can find former PIL players in our schools as educators, in our police forces, in the military, running businesses, and the lucky few, living the dream of playing of playing professional baseball.”

Still a Stud, Making A Difference in Young Lives Through Baseball
They left
Seattle August 30 and have arrived in
Mallery Square,
Key West,
Florida on December 1. Biking, running, and swimming their way across the United States in support of the “I Love Baseball” program, former PIL player (Seattle Studs) Brian Bauer, with partner Philip Herron, and support driver, Bekah Walker have completed the three month journey. The funds that were raised through their efforts benefit: “I Love Baseball a program of Children of the Nations that uses the game of baseball to connect people and organizations in the
US and around the world with those in the
Dominican Republic.”
After completing the trek, the trio plans to fly to DR to visit students and young baseball players before returning to
Seattle.
