PIL Spring Meeting Held
The Pacific
International League held their spring Board of Directors
Meeting, April 21st, in Langley, British Columbia,
Canada. All members were present or represented.
A budget review
was conducted by League Treasurer, Mark Dow. Status of league
fees, along with cost projections for the upcoming 2006 season
were considered. Mark also reviewed baseball inventory and
projected numbers for the season.
Kevin Campbell,
web-master for the PIL, discussed the web site, information
submittal requirements, and expectations. Responsibilities of
the league intern as she coordinates with Kevin were outlined.
A player and pitcher of the week will be chosen as a part of the
statistics reporting effort. League rules will be posted to the
web site and all players and coaches are to be reminded by the
teams to have them reviewed.
The PIL League
Champion will be awarded $15,000 towards the expense of their
trip to the World Series. As a result of the Seattle Studs 4th
place national finish in 2005 a second PIL berth to the NBC
World Series Tournament has been offered for 2006.
Deliberations are underway with the feasibility of sending a
second club the topic. The league has sent two clubs in the
past but in recent years had allocated funds towards league
championship tournament in August. This playoff will be
discontinued for present.
Additional issues
included discussion of wood bat companies, league rules,
approval of previous meeting minutes, advertising, and
commissioner’s contact information.
