NEWS RELEASE

 PIL Spring Meeting Held

The Pacific International League held their spring Board of Directors Meeting, April 21st, in Langley, British Columbia, Canada.  All members were present or represented.

A budget review was conducted by League Treasurer,  Mark Dow.  Status of league fees, along with cost projections for the upcoming 2006 season were considered.  Mark also reviewed baseball inventory and projected numbers for the season.

Kevin Campbell, web-master for the PIL, discussed the web site, information submittal requirements, and expectations.  Responsibilities of the league intern as she coordinates with Kevin were outlined.  A player and pitcher of the week will be chosen as a part of the statistics reporting effort.  League rules will be posted to the web site and all players and coaches are to be reminded by the teams to have them reviewed.

The PIL League Champion will be awarded $15,000 towards the expense of their trip to the World Series.  As a result of the Seattle Studs 4th place national finish in 2005 a second PIL berth to the NBC World Series Tournament has been offered for 2006.  Deliberations are underway with the feasibility of sending a second club the topic.   The league has sent two clubs in the past but in recent years had allocated funds towards league championship tournament in August.  This playoff will be discontinued for present.

Additional issues included discussion of wood bat companies, league rules, approval of previous meeting minutes, advertising, and commissioner’s contact information.
