The PIL Turns up the Heat!
(July 6, 2006) The Seattle Studs traveled
down south to Lake Havasu, AZ in the beginning of the week and were
feeling the heat as they lost 2-12 on Monday, and 1-5 on Tuesday to
the Lake Havasu Heat. The Studs bounced back on Wednesday as they
took 2-3 of their games. They creamed the Las Vegas Sandpipers
23-1, beat the Arizona Clash 9-5, but fell to Team Famous 6-1.
Back up in the Northwest, 7 seemed to the
number as the Langley Blaze defeated Everett 7-1 on Monday night and
the Pacific Javs beat Portland 7-4. The Javs had a big inning in the
4th, scoring 6 runs which ultimately led to the 7-4 win
over the Titans. Carey Crain was the winning pitcher with 5 K's in 5
his 5 inning showcase.
The Skagit Eagles came away with win on
Thursday, beating the Everett Merchants 9-4 in what was a classic
Hitter’s dual. The Everett Merchants had 10 hits on 1 error, and
the Eagles put up 11 on a crushing 4 errors. Sean Sargent came away
with the win while Derek Bondo took the loss. The Merchants jumped
on the Eagles, scoring 2 runs each in the first and third innings.
Down 4-0, Skagit answered back with 2 runs in the third as well.
Skagit scored 1 more in the 5th and 2 in the sixth to take the lead.
They pushed 4 runs across in the seventh to widen the gap. Justin
Marshall, Ricky Reavis, and Zach Adam contributed 2 hits apiece in
the victory.
Down in California, the Seaside Wildcats
split with the Monterrey Bay sox, losing the first game 1-6, but
then winning the second game 5-1.
The Skagit Eagles pummeled the Northwest
Titans 13-2 on Friday night. The Northwest Titans started the game
off hot with a solo homer by lead off hitter Sean Raagas. The Eagles
responded with 4 doubles, 2 homeruns (including back to back homers
by Zach Adam and Nate Rylaarsdam), and 4 singles combining for 9
runs scored in the first inning. The win went to Andrew Davis and
Skagit's Ricky Reavis remained hot, going 3-4 with 4 runs batted in,
raising his batting average to .451on the summer.
After soaring through Friday night’s game,
the Eagles were knocked down by the Javs, losing 6-7 in an
extra-inning, nail-biter. The Eagles took the early lead 4-1, but
Pacific scored 3 in the 8th to tie the game. The game would then go
into extra-innings and Pacific scored 3 more in the 10th off of two
Skagit errors. The Eagles came back in the bottom of the 10th,
scoring 2 quick runs off of 4 hits to start the inning, but left the
tying and winning runs stranded, to give the Javs this win.
Pacific’s Brian Goff marked the win. Both Ryan Davis and Marcus
Quintero were 2-4 for the Javs, and Justus Kimbourah, as the DH had
3 RBI.
The next day the Eagles returned refreshed
and out with a vengeance, beating Pacific 4-1 in the first game and
3-1 in the second.
This weekend Langley, Everett,
Seattle and Skagit all head up to Kamloops International Baseball
Tournament in British Columbia, and the Seaside Wildcats head down
to Vacaville, CA to take in some good competition. |
