PIL Player of the Week:  Shawn Lindsey

(July 19, 2006) We are all in agreement that Seattle Studs’ Shawn Lindsey had a stellar weekend. While competing at the Kamloops International Baseball Tournament in British Columbia, Shawn Lindsey was a strong contributing force in the capture of the title and was named the tournaments’ Most Valuable Player. This comes as no surprise as Lindsey had 6 hits in three games including a double, a homerun, 3 RBI 4 stolen bases and 6 runs scored. These numbers were consistent with Lindsey’s performance throughout this season. He is batting .392 with a .483 on base percentage. He has 40 hits, 24 runs, 9 doubles, 5 homeruns, a triple, 11 RBI and has 10 stolen bases in 11 attempts. Not only is Lindsey’s offense remarkable, but he also has a .952 fielding percentage, usually playing Right Field when not slotted as the Designated Hitter. Lindsey’s success can be attributed to his undying commitment to the game of baseball and the highest competition he can find. As the oldest player on the Studs’ roster, Lindsey lives in Portland and commutes everyday to play with the Studs. Studs’ manager, Barry Aden said, “[Lindsey] goes into work early so he can leave early to get here to play and practice.” On Lindsey’s performance this season Aden said, “Shawn is having an incredible season and is just tearing it up at the plate.” Shawn Lindsey has spent some time in the Pros, playing with the Giants Minor League organization in San Francisco and has been with the Studs for the past three years.
