Rough start in Seattle for the Panners

Yesterday the Goldpanners tried to put one in the win column after dropping the first game to the Seattle Studs seven to one.

The second inning proved to be the Panners undoing.

Nick Flesher was on the mound and he gave up four runs in the second inning on one swing of the bat.

In the third inning, the Panners got on the board when Jordon Ross scored on an error.

In the next inning. Ross drove in Rafe Chaumette on a two out single, and then J.T. Arruda drove in Mitch Berryhill to make it a four to three game.

The Studs would knock in another run in the fifth, and the Panners drop the series finale 5-3.

Even though they didn’t get the win, the bats woke up in this game. After only getting five hits in their season opener they had 12 in this game.

The Panners did not capitalize on their opportunities in this game, leaving 11 men on base.

Michael Hobbs pitched two perfect innings of relief and struck out three. Brandon Langan pitched the final two innings of the game.

The Goldpanners return to Fairbanks for their home opener this Saturday when they will play the Fairbanks All Stars.
