Week One Recap

JUNE 14, 2021: Week 1 is in the books for the still young 2021 season! Games have been hotly contested and we’ve even had the chance to see the new extra innings rule come in to effect in the first week!

New stars made their mark on the league and returning veterans re-established their dominance over the league.

The talk of the league currently has to be the Everett Merchants who have jumped out to a perfect 4-0 start beating the Dudes, Honkers and even the always talented Seattle Studs in back-to-back games on June 12th. Whitworth’s Jaxsen Sweum is leading the Merchants in HR (3), RBI with an astounding 15 and currently leads the league in average batting .500. The Everett pitching staff has recorded 39 ks over their 4 games led by Cole Cramer with 10ks over 4 IP. An interesting player of note for the Merchants is Eumir Sepulveda from Culiacan Rosales, Mexico who serves as the Merchies’ closer.

The Seattle Cheney Studs sit in second place with a 3-2 record with their only 2 losses coming against the aforementioned Merchants. The Studs are an extremely deep team with an outstanding pitching staff highlighted by their closer Anthony Brady, a 3/4 arm slot right-hander who sits 89-91 with a wipe-out slider complimented by two-seam and four-seam fastballs. Mack Larson currently leads the league in wins along with Landon Riker leading the league in HRs (5) and RBI (17).

Players of note for the Honkers, Dudes and Bears include, Honkers OF Alex Cochrane with a .429 AVG, Dudes LHP Joe Schwab with 10 ks and OF Nate Blocher for the Bears hitting .353 8 RBI and 1 HR.
