Everett Merchants pummel Redmond Dudes, 13-3

The Merchants showed no mercy for the Dudes’ with their torrid bats last Sunday. Everett was able to cap three big innings in a row for a 13-3 victory, registering 12 of their 14 hits against Redmond’s starter, J. Boyce.

Boyce surrendered all 13 runs, five walks and three strikeouts. He made it through 6.1 innings.

The damage began in the third inning after Jake Tilley and Jack Kennelly both launched homers to give Everett a 3-0 lead. They would extend their lead in the top of the fourth adding two more, but the Dudes’ kept the ball game alive responding with two themselves with a two out single by Jack Vandahaar to make it 5-2.

But, it would be a sudden debacle for Redmond in the top of the fifth in which the Merchants were able to ultimately decide the game with their six run inning. It seemed interminable for Boyce as he gave up five hits and two walks, but got himself through the inning and a scoreless sixth before he was pulled in the top of the seventh to end his night.

Redmond added one in the bottom of the fifth with Justin Lutz’s two out–full count homer. He would record two of the team’s mere five hits.

Ethan Smith and Gavin Cork both provided three runs batted in for the Merchants. Kennelly led the team with his three hits.

Everett starter, Gavin Bullock, made it through five complete innings with three runs (all earned), five hits, one walk and four strikeouts.
