It’s the Dub Sea Fish Sticks!

December 2, 2021: The West Seattle baseball team formally known as the Highline Bears, a summer collegiate team, announced the winning team name of “Fish Sticks” after the completion of a nationwide renaming contest.

Fans chose between the DubSea Seal Slingers or the DubSea Fish Sticks, with the Fish Sticks winning by less than 1% of the vote, with a total of 50.04%.

After continual confusion with local high schools, little leagues and Highline College, the team decided to rebrand.

A “Rename the Team” contest was announced in June and after 200 entries were received, the team hired a baseball team branding company to narrow the options down.

The company, Brandiose, has helped to name dozens of minor league teams, including the Rocket City Trash Pandas and the Armadillo Sod Poodles.

“DubSea” comes from “Dub,” local slang for the “W” in West Seattle and White Center, and “Sea” for Seattle or the “C” in White Center.
